With Women’s Day fast approaching, you’ve been thinking of doing something special for her - something that is meaningful, personal and something that can’t be bought at a store. Why not rustle up a special meal for the special woman in your life? Or if you happen to be a total disaster in the kitchen, you can set a fantastic table while you order in. You can choose many a thing to be a part of this special meal but if the love of your life loves seafood, believe me, lobsters from Maine will make her crazily happy.

What is so special about Maine lobsters? Lobsters are lobsters, right? Wrong. Main lobsters are considered to be the crème de la crème in the world of crustaceans. The sweet taste of this lobster, the subtle flavor and its remarkable texture are the little things that set it apart from all other kinds of seafood. So if you want to impress your date with a great dinner, you need the best, i.e. a Maine lobster to make your celebrations perfect.

Some of the all time popular lobster dishes, starters and main course, that you can cook or order are listed next. Depending on whether you and your lady like spicy, herby, traditional or experimental cuisine, you can choose from the following:

For the Main Course
  • Lobster Thermidor
  • Jumbo Lobster Tails
  • Lobster Pie
  • Stuffed Lobsters
  • Grilled Garlicky Lobsters
  • Lobster Paella
  • Asian Lobster Curry
 For the Starters
  • Mini Lobster Cakes
  • Minced Lobster Rolls with an Herb Sauce
  • Steamed Lobster Salad
  • Spicy Lobster Bisque
If you are thinking of cooking the lobster, but are worried about working with the live ones, take a deep breath and relax. Almost all of the above lobster specialties can be made with cooked lobsters that you can get from your local seafood store or supermarket. In fact, you can even order them online.

However, if you do decide to go ahead with live lobsters be sure to turn them on their backs and stick them in the refrigerator to put them to sleep. This is the most humane way to cook one. And to ensure that you don’t get nicked by the lobster claws, don’t open the bands that the live lobsters come with.

So go ahead and celebrate the woman you love by giving a culinary treat. And don’t forget to drop a line about how it went.
