Shrimps are one of the most delectable items the sea has to offer and seafood lovers always dig into dishes that are made with shrimp. Shrimp dishes are extremely easy to make even in your own kitchen. One of the most delicious shrimp dishes is the Shrimp, Sausage, and Fish Jambalaya, For this dish you will require:
• ¼ of a cup of butter
• 1 cup of onion, diced
• 10 oz of andouille sausages, halved
• 1 cup of green bell pepper, diced
• 1 cup of celery, diced
• 1 can or six oz of tomato paste
• 1 ½ teaspoons of garlic, minced
• 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
• 1 can or 14.5 oz of tomatoes, diced
• 1 ½ teaspoons of Cajun seasoning
• 4 cups of chicken broth, low-sodium
• ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper
• ¾ of a pound of deveined and peeled shrimp
• 2 cups of medium-grain rice
• 1/3 of a cup of fresh parsley, chopped
• ¾ of a pound of cod fillets
• Salt to taste
To prepare the dish first take a heavy-bottomed pot and melt butter in it over medium-high flame. Then, cook the andouille sausages in the butter till they are properly brown for around five minutes. Then, take out the sausages with a spoon with slots and place them in a plate with paper towels. In the remaining butter, stir in the bell-peppers, celery and onion; cook till the onion is translucent for about 10 minutes. Add the garlic to this onion mixture and cook for one minute. Then stir in the tomato paste and cook the mixture for about three to five minutes. Then, add the sausages, diced tomatoes, Cajun seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and black pepper and stir in properly. To this mixture, add the chicken broth and bring it to a boil. Combine the rice with the mixture and cover the pot. Keep the flame on medium-low and cook the rice with the shrimp and cod till the rice is tender. Then take off the cover, and cook another 10 minutes with the lid off. Season with parsley and salt and serve the dish.
